Could this have been Herbert Titmarsh b 1887 Littleport who in 1911 was a printer and stationer working on his own account and living with his father in law and family in Linton Cambs?
References: 1911 Census

Name:  TITTERTON, John Allan Porthouse b:1834 St Pancras Middlesex d: 1914
Address: St Mary’s St Ely (1858-1892), Lynn Road Ely (1896-
Working Dates: 1858-1900
Subjects, styles, advertising, other relevant information: Son of John Titterton (b:1788 Wolverhampton Staffs, Chelsea Pensioner, veteran of Waterloo, Metropolitan Police Inspector, Chief Constable of Cambridge Borough Police and Governor of Peterborough Gaol d:1857). An artist, astronomer and photographer. The 1851 census picks him up in the gaol at Peterborough where he was living as the son of the governor and working as a printer. Heathcote notes that Titterton arrived at Spalding, Lincs in 1855 and was still active in the town the following year, but by 1858 he had settled in Ely. The Lincolnshire Chronicle reported on 7th December 1855 "Collodion Process - Mr Titterton, photographic artist has been gleaning "golden opinions" from the inhabitants of Spalding - his portraits are life-like and coloured after (and very little after) nature." In the trade directories he was listed as "Photographic Artist and tobacconist" in 1864 and photographer and tobacconist 1865-75. In the 1871 census John was listed as a photographer in St Marys Street Ely Cambs where he was living with his wife Hannah b:1833 Cambridge. On 17 June 1878 John, then a widow, married Elizabeth Jane Titterton, (yes - the same surname - so possibly a distant relative?) at Acton. Elizabeth was the daughter of Frederick Bradney Titterton b:1830 London, a music seller's assistant. In 1881 John described himself as a photographic artist and was still in St Mary's Street with his second, much younger wife, Elizabeth Jane b:1856 Middlesex and 10 month old son John Frederick. Elizabeth was shown as a photographer as well as John. In 1891 he was at the same location, His wife Elizabeth Jane being shown as b:1858 Brixton Surrey and the family had the addition of a daughter Elizabeth Clara b:1882 Ely Cambs. John's wife Elizabeth was shown as a photographer in 1891. John's name was shown as John A.P.Titterton (wrongly indexed as Tetterton). He was listed as a photographer. In 1901 John was described in the census as "artist and journalist". In 1911 John had moved to 1 Lynfield Terrace Ely and was described as a journalist - the family had two boarders, presumably to supplement their income.

The first carte de visite below (author's collection) is a vignette of an unknown young girl posing with strewn flowers. The cream square cornered mount has a green border line round the face side and the reverse is back-stamped in blue ink in a garter design "John Titterton photographer, Ely Cambs". It is difficult to date this from the girls clothes, but the simple backstamp pre-dates the cartes below this and so it is probably from the 1860s. The next two cartes de visite below (author’s collection) are probably also from the 1860s (from the clothing and mutton chops) mounted on white card with square corners. The reverse sides have a scroll design printed in red saying “John Titterton photographer Ely”.
